Every time I see Mike and the Molotovs’ name come across my desk, I smile. Something about this band just makes me so freaking happy. As I mentioned when I reviewed their previous single “Billionaires, Have Feelings Too,” I explained to you what “spaghetti punk” is (which is what Mike and the Molotovs call themselves. I won’t explain it again, so if you haven’t heard of this super niche genre, feel free to go back and read that review before proceeding to read my writings on how this new song is absolutely amazing.

I mean, do I even need to explain to you the amount of charming satire that comes through in this song given the song title? Absolutely not, but that’s not the only amazing part of this song. There are many things that I just can not get enough of when it comes to “Asshole (Driving in a Big, White Truck).” One of those is just the sheer relatability of the lyrics. At face value, the song is about exactly what the song title mentions– an asshole driver behind the wheel of a big, white truck, but as you listen to this song and really let the snark and satire sink in, you realize that this may be more than a song just about crappy drivers. This is a song about the entire government. Okay, maybe I’m pushing it here. I’m not entirely sure if Mike and the Molotovs intended for this song to be a political statement, but that’s how I interpreted it. Not in the mood for a politically-charged punk song? Don’t let that stop you from checking this track out. Truly, Mike and the Molotovs just have a super fun, raw, aggressive yet playful kind of vibe that is irresistible and will surely turn any frown that may be on your face upside down.
