I can be a very moody person. I’m aware of this, and it’s just part of who I am. My moods run the gamut, from happy to sad, from angry to calm– I deal with it all in very short time spans, but I have to say, I don’t think I’ve ever been in an “Animal Mood.” I don’t even know what that means. Am I even using those words in the right context? Who cares? All I know is that I love this “Mood” after hearing “Danger In The Living Room.”
The storyline behind this song is as interesting as the song itself. As the band explains, “[it’s] A fictional story about an archeologist from Mexico that gets possessed by a cursed artifact.” Can we just talk about that for a second before we dig into this song? I’d like to consider myself a pretty creative person, but something about this just made me so jealous of the minds behind this band right off the bat. Add in the indie-rock jangle that has been crafted to perfection and can be heard loud and clear throughout this almost three-minute song, and you are left with an addictive song that is made for daydreamers. Not only is the story epic, but the instrumentation has an ebb and flow to it that makes it so easy to drift away from the grind of your daily life if only for a couple of minutes. I had never heard of Animal Mood before hearing this song, but it’s safe to say that I’m in love and hope to hear much more from this band in the near future.
