Girl at the Rock Shows

Happy Thursday, everyone. I hope your day has started off right, but just in case it hasn’t or you can feel the day already getting a little rocky, let’s make sure to at least have a good soundtrack going, starting with “DING DONG BITCH” from massie99.

massie99 mentioned that his song is “short, strange, and electric” which, obviously, caught my attention. I wasn’t quite sure what they meant by that until I pushed play on the song. The song starts with a cheerleader-type chant before massie99 unleashes their signature brand of angst and grit. It feels a little eerie with intricacies that sound like ghosts (you’ll understand what I mean when you hear it), but maybe that’s because spooky season is upon us. I know that the band warned me, but at only a couple of seconds over one minute long, this song is ridiculously short, and I just didn’t want it to be that. There’s such an energy and such a feeling of well-curated rage that it was a feeling I could have stayed lost in for minutes on end and still wanted more. Even though this song is short and seems to stop fairly abruptly, I love how massie99 makes this a full and cohesive song. There’s an intro, a hook, a verse, and even a breakdown. Long story short, massie99 will absolutely catch your attention with “DING DONG BITCH,” a “short, strange, and electric” bop.
