My head isn’t in it to win it right now. I’m not sure what it is but, although I’m getting a lot done and pumping through work, I feel like concentration and motivation is a fleeting thought. I need to get my head out of the clouds and back into the grind and I’m hoping that, by taking another break and checking out another new song, I can get back into it and really buckle down for the rest of the day.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you want to look at it), “Blessed Be” from Bonus Room did anything except bring me back down to the ground. This song is oddly explosive for how chill it is. It’s an indie rock anthem with tentacles of sound that reached into various other genres spanning from a fuzzy grunge sound to something a bit more 90s alt rock-inspired. There’s something refreshing about this song, something familiar, but, most importantly, something so striking about it. The video is simple enough. It just shows the and performing in a giant room but there’s something wiht the lighting and the coloring of the room that adds this sense of drama and tension to the song. I love how it seems to make “Blessed Be” a full-sense kind of experience, not just a song to listen to. Long story short, I’m hooked by this song and absolutely will be sepding the rest of my day checking out what else this band has to offer rather than focusing on work.
