I don’t have anything for you right now. It’s just another morning at the day job where concentration seems to be a hard thing to come by so, instead of forcing myself to buckle down, let’s go ahead and take another break and check out another new song. This one is “Northern Exposure” from High Wasted Genes.

This band is clearly more than just a clever band name. You figure that out within just seconds of this explosive new single. Stylistically, this song is very much in the emo-revival/ pop-punk vein of things, but “Northern Exposure” has so much more to offer than just that. The way that High Wasted Genes balances a feeling of comforting calmness with a huge and anthemic chorus is something legendary. The differences that can be felt throughout this song, as far as power, speed, and angst go, are stark, yet this song, as a whole, flows so easily and perfectly. “Northern Exposure” is perfectly mixed and mastered, yet there’s a strong DIY kind of vibe that comes through here, reminiscent of bands like Hot Mulligan and Knuckle Puck. Long story short, if you’re looking for a kick in the butt to get things done today or just looking for a track to fall in love with, “Northern Exposure” from High Wasted Genes is the song for you.
