There’s a lot of amazing new music to share with you today, so instead of spending time trying to come up with some quirky intro to draw you all in, let’s just jump right into the day, starting with “Bloodsucker” from Strange Wars.
“Bloodsucker” is perfect for this Halloween holiday, and I’m not just saying that because of the name of this track. There’s something eerie and slightly spooky about this song overall, giving it a spooky season kind of vibe. Strange Wars is a band with a super fresh but also familiar alt-rock sound. The vocals instantly reminded me of The Gaslight Anthem and Hot Water Music, but the overall composition of this song has a bit more of a nostalgic ’90s alt-rock kind of thing happening. All of these elements combine to make a sound that is so Strange Wars that there’s no other way to describe it. Although this isn’t the most ferocious or quick-paced song I’ll hear today, there’s an energy behind “Bloodsucker” that just screams needing to see and hear it live. I’m not sure when this German band will make it across the pond to the United States but I know that when it happens, I’ll be waiting and ready for it.
