Girl at the Rock Shows

I am the queen of motion sickness. I’m the type where, if I’m in a car, I’m either driving or I’m sleeping. There are no other options. I envy people who can sit in a car and read, or, even better, work through a long trip. The same thing happens when I’m flying. I have to be asleep or else it’s sure to be a rough ride for me that comes complete with clutching a barf bag. You guessed it, being on a boat is more of the same. I haven’t been on many boats in my life, but I never actually get to relax and enjoy being on a boat because I will instantly get “Sea Sick.” This has nothing to do with this song from Sunsmith, but, as always, just a little way to pull you in. Maybe if I had this song blasting while on a boat, I wouldn’t get so sick. This song is smooth and chill with island vibes that radiate throughout the three and a half minute track. It’s a cool blend of reggae, ska, and even hip-hop with a crystal clear attitude and an undeniable sense of energy, but overall, it comes with just this super silky smooth delivery that makes it one of those songs that you can’t help but instantly fall into. I know that we are on the edge of winter up here in Minneapolis right now, but this song had me daydreaming about being on a California beach. Lyrically, this song has pirate vibes, but that’s not what I latched on to. Sure, it adds to the daydream aspect of this track and acts as the cherry on top, but really, this is just one of those songs that forces you to take a pause out of your manic Monday and just relax, and at the end of the day, that’s something we could all use a bit more of.
