Girl at the Rock Shows

I’m not proud to say that I spent my Thursday night with some good TV Therapy. I don’t know why I feel so guilty about it. I mean, obviously, it’s because there were shows going on that I wanted to be at, but I’ve been fighting some lingering congestion, and I thought that a night in front of the TV without anything to do or anywhere to go would do me good. It didn’t last. By 9:30 last night, I left the house for the bar just to get out. I was stir crazy because, ultimately, TV Therapy just isn’t quite my thing unless it’s in the form of this band.

“Street Curb” will have you ready for TV Therapy’s latest EP ‘Connections.’ Sonically, this song bridges the gap between an angsty punk vibe, emotional tenderness in the vocals, and an indie rock jangle. Although that sounds like a combination that has been used time and time again, there’s something unique about the overall tone of TV Therapy, and you really hear that throughout this three-and-a-half-minute song. There were moments where the vocals in this song slightly reminded me of Anthony Green, which is not something that I can say often. That’s not the only thing that hooked m,e though. The message of this song is as deep as the instrumentation and vocals. It’s a song about, as the band puts it, “searching for meaning in a world that doesn’t seem to care.” If that doesn’t hit you straight to the core, I don’t know what will.
