I got snowed in last night. Realistically, I probably could have shoveled a path and made it out to a show, but it just seemed like so much work, and, subconsciously, I think I wanted a night to be snowed in the house so I could get some chores done and get caught up on some crappy TV and sleep. Now that I’ve done that, I’m feeling great but in dire need of a live concert. I have two tonight, but that’s still not for hours, so let’s see if checking out some new music can help soothe my anxious soul, starting with “Back And Forth” from Missing Since Monday.
The energy of this song is electric, and it hits you within the first ten seconds. “Back And Forth” is a boppy little pop-punk jam that is perfect for a windows-down, summer drive, but it’s also perfect for those mornings when you’re feeling just a little bit restless and need a little jolt to the system. Missing Since Monday’s brand of pop-punk is nostalgia-filled, but it also feels fresh. There are definitely nods to bands like Blink-182 and Simple Plan scattered throughout this song, but there’s just a little bit of an alt-rock twist that adds a sense of depth to this song. I wish I had more to say about “Back And Forth,” but ultimately, this is one of those songs that will just make you feel good, and on a snowy and cold Wednesday morning, I honestly could not ask for anything more.
