Girl at the Rock Shows

I’m sure it’s not a direct reference, but whenever I hear or read the phrase “Flying Monkeys,” it terrifies me because I have flashbacks of watching The Wizard of Oz when I was a young kid. I know that they really weren’t that scary, but there was something about those pesky little creatures that scared the shit out of me and still does to this day. This has nothing to do with “Big Boy” from Them Flying Monkeys, but is where my head was as soon as this single came across my desk.

This song is far too quick for my liking. Okay, it’s really not a quick song. It’s just over three minutes long, but I could listen to this for hours and not get bored with it. Them Flying Monkeys have such a cool blend of intense punk and something just a bit more electronic and danceable. It’s a little bit like if The Faint and Missio had a kid raised on Grandson but also prone to getting lost in a little bit of Rage Against the Machine every once in a while. Okay, now that I write that all out, I realize how bizarre this sounds, but, seriously, check this song and let the sheer power and intensity of this song take you over. For a truly amazing experience, make sure to check out the video that comes with it. It’s as mesmerizing as the song is and definitely enhances the overall experience.
