I’m feeling refreshed this morning. That doesn’t mean that Minneapolis is not still under siege. It is, but I finally took a night off and actually got some sleep. Now I’m ready to take on the world. I’m ready to not only continue fighting the good fight but also share out some new music to help us all continue on during this strange and dark time. I’m ready to share more light like the light that comes from “The Shoes With Red Stripes” from Funhouse Mirrors.
This song is not like what I typically share out. It’s calm in a way and very jazzy and folksy but it had me caught within the first few seconds of my first listen. This track is incredibly smooth with the way it incorporates so many different vibes from a folk rock punch to the almost Caribbean and jazz influence in the beat. There are moments throughout this quick, two minute and forty-five second song that remind me of ‘Pretty Odd’ from Panic at the Disco but that doesn’t feel like the perfect comparison– just the only one I can come up with. The lyrics are a bit mysterious and vague but paint a beautiful picture. I love that the vagueness of them really allows you to choose your own adventure when it comes to this song. For me, this song just felt playful and whimsical. Maybe that’s because that’s what I am in need of this morning but I would love to hear what kind of adventure this song takes you on!
