Girl at the Rock Shows

I don’t have any cool or quirky intro for you today. It’s just another day of sitting at my day job and hoping that time goes by fast because I’m anxious for my show tonight. Thus far, time is not going fast, it’s actually going quite slow but maybe checking out “Canine and Incisor” from Absentees will help change that.

We all know what high energy rock ‘n’ roll sounds like but Absentees brings a sense of punk grit to that making this song such a perfect get-up-and-go kind of track. Based in Detroit, Absentees’ sound is intense and in your face. This track in particular is super aggressive in all of the right ways. The grit is insane but what really hooked me about this song is the way that, even with that grit and aggression, there’s something almost simplistic about this song. I don’t at all mean that in a way that should lead you to believe this three minute song is boring or a fly over kind of song, I more mean that this band is a no frills kind of band. The swagger is real throughout this song but it happens without the band seeming to try for it. “Canine and Incisor” from Absentees just high-octane perfection and the perfect song if you, like me, are having a bit of a slow moving Wednesday morning.
