Girl at the Rock Shows

Today has been a rollercoaster ride of a day. It started great, got a little bit rocky, then turned around due to an amazing email conversation but now it’s going back to being a bit rocky. If there’s one thing I know, it’s that no matter how rocky it gets, I will hang on for dear life. That’s the kind of energy I have today. Basically, hit me with your best shot but I won’t fall down. I feel like that energy is kind of the vibe I got when I saw the title of this track so let’s see if “BET ON ME” from Gina Fritz helps amplify this current mood of mine.

I was going to write this review as a standard song review but, within the first few songs, I knew this would have to be different. Instead of just a review, this is a love letter to Gina. Gina Fritz, thank you so much for reminding me and everyone else who hears this song that we are worth something. That we can all do whatever we set our minds to as long as we ignore the haters and those buttheads that pray for your downfall. “BET ON ME” is triumphant and powerful but those words just feel so plain when compared to the razzle-dazzle of this song. Honestly, I could probably write an entire disposition on this song and the way it made me feel but, rather than hammering away at my keyboard when listening to this song for already the umpteenth time, all I wanted to do was stand up from my desk in a Superman kind of stance while the world bowed down to me. Dramatic? Absolutely but just take a listen to this song and you will understand what I’m getting at here.
