I feel like “Waste of Time” typically has a negative connotation attached to it. I mean, life is short, who wants to be wasting time. To play devil’s advocate, I think “Waste Of Time” could be a positive thing especially with how quickly everything is moving in this world. Sometimes it’s nice to just have a moment of wasting time whether that’s on your phone, playing a game, or just sitting and doing nothing. Either way you want to take the phrase, this song of the same title from Midwave Breaks is anything but a “Waste Of Time.”

The first track from Midwave Breaks’ upcoming full length album, “Waste Of Time” is the definition of an explosive single. The song starts off easy enough with vocals taking the charge as layers of instrumentation come in and take this song off to the ethos where it remains for the rest of the track. The power here comes from a mix of both the vocals and instrumentation with a little tug of war between the two. There are moments when your ears will be commanded by the words that seem to be a commentary of the, as the band puts it, “relentless pursuit of the creative process” followed by moments when the drum-driven guitar riffs and steady bass will grab your ears. Stylistically, “Waste Of Time” is somewhere between hard rock and alt-rock with glistens of everything from punk to metal coming in and out of focus throughout the track. “Waste Of Time” is powerful and absolutely has me ready to check out the full album from Midwave Breaks.
