Do you believe in saints? That’s a loaded question, I know. I honestly don’t know if I do. I feel like there are entities that can help us with particular things but I don’t know that I would call them saints. Really, I don’t think that this song from Vocabularies has much to do with saints other than the title but I got you thinking, didn’t I?

The first thing that’s going to hit you with this song is a super unique guitar tone. It feel disjointed and almost frantic but the overall pace of this song is not fast or chaotic or anything like that. That was the first thing that made me fall in love with this quick, two minute and forty-nine second song. As the song moves on, you get a bit more structure like you would with a standard punk-leaning rock song but that more artistic take on guitarwork stays throughout the track giving this song such a cool and distinct vibe. This song is about the war between laziness and creative impulse. I didn’t need to tell you that. Honestly, you can feel it with that constant give and take between the artistry that Vocabularies does so well and the more standard rock song vibe that they also do so well. Vocabularies has split the different between commercial and artsy-fartsy absolutely perfectly in this song making “Patron Saint” a must listen for anyone who is just in the mood for something fresh and new.
