I just figured out that I double booked myself for meetings after my day job today. It doesn’t happen often but, when it does, I feel absolutely terrible. The truth is, there’s just not enough hours in the day and, although I may try to make a few extra hours appear, it never works out for me. This really has nothing to do with “Scimmia” from Woodoo Dolls but it’s the reason I need to take a little breather from the day and check out some new music so let’s do just that.

When I read “rock from a jungle” in the pitch of this song, I kind of laughed. I mean, what does that even mean and, when the band mentioned to “free the monkey that resides in your head,” that laugh turned a bit more intense but the truth is, those phrases match this song perfectly. This song is energized and unlike anything else out there right now. It’s definitely a ska leaning punk song but there’s this almost jungle-like fever that reigns supreme throughout the four minutes it lasts. I wish I could expand on that, I do, but the truth is, this is just something you have to hear. The beat of the track sounds like monkeys swinging from tree to tree while the horns flutter in and out like falling leaves. Whether you get this image in your head or not, “Scimmia” from Woodoo Dolls is the kind of song that will absolutely get stuck in your head.
