Girl at the Rock Shows

I recently got a new perfume called “Juliette has a gun.” Coincidence that that’s the perfume I decided to wear today and “(Romeo Doesn’t Know) Juliet Has A Gun” from The Salient is the first song I have to share with you all? I think not.

As The Salient puts it, this is a “Myspace era metalcore track.” I agree with but that feel like the description does not do this song justice. Sure, it has the chug of those nostalgic guitars and the familiar screech of sinister vocals over it which all lends into that familiar flavor of metalcore but there’s something more to this song. The intricacies that The Salient have put into this track are truly dazzling. It may take you a couple of listens to really catch them all but, once you do, you will get hooked on the almost EDM-styled synth part that pops in and out of this song as much as you get hooked on the sheer power behind this track as a whole. The Salient is based in the UK so lord only knows when I’ll ever get a chance to see this band live but you best believe that the second they announce a tour over here, I’ll be there. This song has the kind of energy that begs to be seen in a live setting, not just listened to through speakers.
