Today is going to be a big day. I’ll be leaving work early to head to Uptown Minneapolis to catch a free, outdoor show from Dropkick Murphys. Sure, it’s raining out and that’s putting a literal damper on my excitement a wee bit but, come on, there’s nothing that’s going to stop me from seeing this. Unfortunately, this means it’s been super hard to concentrate on work so far today. I feel like I’m forcing it and making more mistakes than not so why even try? That’s a hypothetical question. I know I need to try but it’s just so hard so maybe I’ll spend my few hours at work checking out new music like “Probably Happy” from NOTADOG.
If you’ve been following this blog, you know I’m a huge fan of this band. I’ve shared out a bunch of their singles and always sing high praises for them. Why wouldn’t I when they keep on putting out banger after banger like “Probably Happy”? What I love the most about this song is the tongue-in-cheek lyrics. It’s a verbatim breakup story that happened and it’s just too perfect. Sure, it’s a bit dramatic but what breakup isn’t? When you add NOTADOG’s signature raw-styled heart-on-sleeve vocals, you don’t just have a song or a story, you have an epic tale of love and love lost that’s hard to not smile, cry, and breathe through like it was happening to you, not some musician that you can only ever dream of meeting in person. This song is as charming as it is real and when yuo add NOTADOG’s signature flare and style to the mix, you are left with pure perfection.
