I really dislike the name of this band. Okay, maybe I’m being a little bit dramatic but, come on, why would anyway wanna “Punch-a-koala?” Is that even what this band name means? Does it even have a meaning? I honestly don’t know much about this Australian x American duo but I know, even with a name that leaves a bad taste in my mouth, I am absolutely obsessed with this pairing after hearing “Dad Tan.”

This song is fun and, if you didn’t suspect from the song title, is the kind of track that doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s a fun and funny little bop that will absolutely bring a smile to your face but this duo isn’t all just jokes and laughs. There’s some serious talent in this band and Punchakoala has a perfect way of creating a song that radiates fun but also gets you hooked. From the chorus to certain and seemingly random lines of words in the verses, there is definitely something in this song for everyone. You want pop-punk? They got it! Prefer something that leans a bit more standard alt-rock? They got it! Ready to grab your skateboard and skate the streets with the perfect soundtrack? “Dad Tan” fits for that. Long story short, even though Punchakoala may not take themselves too seriously, they are a seriously good act that is absolutely worthy of your attention, love and ears.
