Happy Monday, everyone! Did you all have a good weekend? I did but, as always, it was far too short and I didn’t get nearly as much done as I had hoped for. That being said, I’m going into this week feeling motivated and optimistic. I’m not sure how long this is going to last but if I have music like “A New Song” from shugE to soundtrack my week, I think we could ride with this feeling a little bit.
The last song I shared out from shugE was “Jesse and June.” I thoroughly love that song but definitely would have loved to hear a bit more of an edge in that track for it to be the perfect fit for my daily playlists. I got that edge and then some in “A New Song.” Although still not as heavy or intense as I tend to go, there’s a sense of earth-shattering dynamics throughout this song and I love the way that, right when you get comfortable with the vibe and feel of this song, shugE changes things and really ramps it up. Although there’s not mass chaos in this song (I mean, I guess I would call this slight chaos but it’s super curated and controlled), there is a sense of emotional catastrophe in a way. There’s just something about this song that will make you feel everything you’ve ever wanted and everything that you’ve been trying to hide from. It’s honestly a bit shocking but the feeling of cathartic release throughout this three and a half minute track is beyond perfect and exactly what I think we all need to get this week started off right.
