Girl at the Rock Shows

I am still riding a high from seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child last night at The Orpheum. It has me feeling rejuvenated and ready to take on the world but the pile of work sitting in front of me is fighting to bring me back to earth. I’m not ready to come back so, instead of tackling this giant pile of paperwork, let’s check out “Decadent Night” from Dekadenza.

Like I told the band when they sent this to me, I’m not sure that this style and song in general is my favorite thing in the world but I found the track to be so freaking intriguing, interesting, and fresh. The first single from Dekadenza’s upcoming album ‘Wasteland,’ this song is a high-energy metal track but just calling it metal doesn’t do it justice. There’s everything from a saxophone to a cello in this song adding a flare of drama to the track that had me super intrigued. There’s a groove to this song and a definite range of emotions and dynamics that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The driving force behind this song seemed to juxtapose the almost jazzy feel that the saxophone brought in a way and, at times, the line between genres is so blurred throughout this song that it’s impossible to categorize it. From moments that feel freshly organic to chugging moments of intensity, “Decadent Night” is all over the place and will definitely light a spark of creativity and passion in your soul.
