I live a super cool life. I know that. Sure, I have a day job that tries to suck the soul out of me on the daily but, beyond that, I am truly living a dream. I get to go see live music almost every night. Okay, maybe that’s sounds more like a feeling of exhaustion than a dream to you but, to me, it’s pure bliss. That being said, I still feel like there are times when my life feels more like a grind than anything else. Maybe it’s when I’m at my day job, maybe it’s the weekends where my boyfriend has his kids and there are more sports and activities to get to than there are hours in the day, I still feel it– normal life. That’s where “Robot” from Drama Dolls comes in.
This song is quick and punchy. It’s a two minute and twenty-one second angsty anthem for those moments when the grind feels like it’s going to win. It’s a track that reminds you to not give in and to not give up to the grind. The vocals are beyond angsty, they are blistering to kick this song off. There are moments where the vocals turn to something a bit more clear and tame but, really, it’s those blistering and chaotic moments of this song that really stood out to me. Although the lyrics directed at Dave from Kubrick’s 2001: Space Odyssey do nothing for me as I have never seen that movie, the energy and attitude was just what I needed to help get me through the grind of this Tuesday.
