Happy Thursday, everyone! I can’t tell if today is going to be an easy-breezy kind of day or a day where it’s nothing but putting out fires at my day job. It’s been a mixed bag so far and, although I’m optimistic that I’ll get a handle on everything, I fear that today may end up being a rough one so I need to take advantage of this little sliver of time I’ve found this morning and see if I can force today onto the right trajectory by starting it off with “Mindst8” from CorMae.
“Mindst8” is the first song from CorMae’s EP ‘Everything Is So Great!’ and it’s the perfect kind of energy to make that things are, in fact, “So Great!” This is fast and furious kind of song where egg punk meets riot grrrl energy. Never heard of egg punk? Don’t worry, I hadn’t either. Basically it’s a fast-paced, lo-fi and very experimental subgenre of the DIY punk scene. You feel all of those elements throughout this quick and dirty one minute and forty-four second song. This track seems to be about time and how there’s just not enough of it. It’s a slight nod to the vibe of “fake it till you make it or until you don’t” as the band puts it. It’s a relatable and fun song but with a strong DIY ethos surrounding it that will absolutely get you moving on this sleepy Thursday morning.
