I’ve never seen Twin Peaks so the fact that this song is named after a David Lynch quote from Twin Peaks where he defends his transgender coworker from their judgemental colleagues really doesn’t do much for me but the quote itself and the message behind it does everything for me. Whether you know Twin Peaks or not, this is absolutely a track and a band that is worth your time.
Silverface Twin is one of those bands that is nearly impossible to classify. There are moments throughout this four and a half minute song that have a very punk kind of attitude behind them but also moments that have a calming, shoegaze kind of quality to them. The way that this Phoenix, Arizona-based band can take these different vibes and mold them into such a cohesive sound is the first things that got me stuck about this song. I also got stuck by the intention behind the track. I don’t just mean the track in general, I mean all of the little intricacies that make up this track. You can feel a heaviness behind every word, every note, and it tells you everything you need to know about Silverface Twin– they play with their heart, they write with their heart, they are their heart. Typically passion and fire is something that really comes to fruition in a live show setting but that’s not the case with this band. You know Silverface Twin means business and they are absolutely a band to keep your eyes on because of that and the clear talent that they have.
