Girl at the Rock Shows

I know that it’s only Tuesday but I’m already praying for a “REPRIEVE” from the week. It’s been busy. That’s nothing new but something about the business I’m feeling right now feels relentless and I’m already looking forward to getting off my day job and sneaking in a new nap before going out to a show tonight. That’s still hours away but, thankfully, Marrowed is giving me a little “REPRIEVE” with their song of the same name.

The first thing that caught my attention about this song is the power. Much like the stress and the never-ending to-do list in front of me, the power of this song is relentless, and it’s just what I needed. Marrowed bounces seamlessly between a world of melodic death groove metal and something a bit more hardcore. Moments in this song made me want to two-step, while others made me want to just start a one-woman push pit in my office. Although the lyrics aren’t the most clear for everyone, I loved the message that this song brings to the table. “REPRIEVE,” as the bad puts it, “is about moving past your idols and coming of age. Realizing that true heroes carry themselves while helping others rather than sacrificing themselves for the sake of others.” A deep message all wrapped up in a bow of insane power and aggression? That’s a heck of a way to kick off a Tuesday if you sk me!
