I don’t know how I pulled it off, but I was able to find time this morning to cut up some veggies for an epic veggie sandwich as my lunch. Now I’m sitting here enjoying every bite I can get out of this sandwich and feeling beyond accomplished and beyond satisfied with my lunch choice. This has nothing to do with “Dorothy” from ALTARBOY other than the fact that this perfect lunch deserves a perfect song, which is exactly how I would describe this track.
Right off the bat, you realize that the “Dorothy” in the song title is, in fact, Dorothy of The Wizard of Oz. I feel like this kicks this song off with an air of whimsy and playfulness that the band expands on throughout this three-minute song while bringing in a vibe that can only be described as ALTARBOY. This song doesn’t remain whimsical. It quickly takes a turn for this perfect emo-theme of taking ideas, scenes, and themes from The Wizard of Oz and relating them to depression. It’s a powerful song about a dark topic, and it just goes to show not only the raw power behind ALTARBOY, but also the raw emotion that this band is quick to put into the spotlight.
