I neglected my email all weekend, so I knew that today was going to be a bit rough around the edges as I try to play catch-up. Typically, on days like today, when I have literally hundreds of emails to go through, I am a bit high-strung and beyond stressed, but, for some reason, I’m not feeling that way today. I’m feeling cool, calm, and collected, and like I know I am going to get caught up on everything in due time, and stressing out isn’t going to help. Obviously, knock on wood, but I love this feeling and feel chill enough to spend some time with some new music this morning, so let’s do just that and check out “When I Was Yours” from CINTRA.
“When I was Yours” may be CINTRA’s first single of 2026, but, as they said in their pitch to me, it’s straight out of 2003. Don’t know what I mean? You will understand within just seconds of this classic and boppy pop-punk anthem. “When I Was Yours” is a past-paced and energized song that truly captures a feeling and taste of nostalgia. It will feel like a high school crush and a high school summer spent causing trouble with all of the best of intentions. Not in the mood for nostalgia? This song somehow brings that nostalgia to today. I don’t quite know how to explain it, but even though this song was filling me with an insane amount of nostalgia, I never forgot my age. The track acted more like a memory than a daydream, and that added a super cool twist to a very familiar yet unique sound. I realize that trying to put what I’m feeling into words may not be working this early in the morning. I blame the fact that I’m only on my first coffee and still trying to get moving for the day, but, seriously, just give this song and this amazing band a chance. I promise you won’t regret it!
