Girl at the Rock Shows

I can’t decide what kind of mood I’m in. I started my day with my classic pop-punk trip down memory lane but quickly shifted to some post-punk angst from one of my favorite local bands (shout out Unstable Shapes). As amazing as both of these little paths have been, they just aren’t hitting me right, which means it’s time to check out a new track and see if that can send me down the right path.

The amount of power, energy, and angst that comes through within just the first few seconds of “No Grace” from Living Spite is staggering. It’s the kind of song that kicks you right behind the knees to drop you to the ground and then continue to relentlessly stomp on your heart. Okay, maybe that doesn’t sound delightful to some people, but trust me, this song is absolutely one to listen to. There’s a groove to this track that will get stuck in your head, but this is not your classic kind of infectious energy. “No Grace” doesn’t have a standard hook. Instead, it has this thick feeling of sound and emotion, which mixes with that groove to create an entire world that is yours to explore. Living Spite is a heavy band, and “No Grace” is definitely a heavy song, but even if you’re not into super heavy music, I highly suggest you check this song out just so you can feel the insane power of this band.
