A lot of my friends are obsessed with house plants. I am not. I have four cats, so really, house plants don’t stand a chance in my home. That all being said, I found a new kind of house plant to become obsessed with, and that is the band HOUSEPLANTS, and it’s because of their song “Alive.”
“Alive” is the first-ever single from Hong Kong-based HOUSEPLANTS and, even if you’re not a houseplant person, I’m willing to bet you will fall in love with this punk song. There’s something dark about the vocals in this song that hooked me. They aren’t dark in the typical form of the word, but there’s a dark intensity behind every word that draws you in with every passing note. Add in the fast yet perfectly timed punk pace of the track, and you are left with pure perfection. There’s something timeless about this song, but also something fresh. For a first single, this song is explosive and will definitely have you listening to this on repeat until we get more from this dynamic trio.
