Girl at the Rock Shows

EĐĐIE became an obsession of mine last year. Every few weeks, I would hear a new song from him and fall head over heels in love with this singer-songwriter like it was the first time with every new song, but then, out of nowhere, it stopped. I could have followed EĐĐIE on socials, figured out if it was a break, a hiatus, or what, but, truthfully, I just didn’t have the time, and, although my love for EĐĐIE never disappeared, I feel like it kind of went into the background as I became obsessed with other new acts. Seeing EĐĐIE’s name come across my desk this morning brought a giant smile to my face. I didn’t know exactly what to expect when pressing play on “The Pinnacle,” but I knew it was going to be amazing.

I guess you could say that I was a little biased going into this song, but, really, you’ll be able to hear within the first few songs that, bias be damned, this is a heck of a song. Although much more commercial than I tend to go for, this anthemic song had me hooked. It’s in EĐĐIE’s smooth yet emotive vocals and the way the band behind him enhances the power but also leans into the slight vulnerability that is showcased in EĐĐIE’s voice. The power is pointed at raising yourself up, and on a sleepy Tuesday morning, that is just what I need. “The Pinnacle” is about never giving up. It’s about looking the haters in the eye and moving on because, ultimately, they mean nothing. Joined by the absolutely stunning Lindsay Dunn, “The Pinnacle” is the kind of song that will give you a little confidence boost, a little burst of energy, and will make your heart grow at least two sizes bigger. What I’m trying to say is, genre or style be damned, everyone needs to check this song out and let the positivity take them over, if only for the two minutes and forty seconds that the song lasts.
