Is it the heat? Is it the smoky haze? Something has its grip on the people of the Twin Cities right now, and I feel like it’s making everyone just a bit more on edge than usual. People at work are crabby, and you can feel it in the air. I’m doing my best not to let it get to me. I’m trying to keep my head down and just keep working, but it’s getting harder with every passing moment. Thankfully, I have “Bloom” from Kurt Moulison and Scaredy Cat to help distract me.
The amount of peace that the first two seconds of this song brought me was insane. The song starts with a whistling songbird before dreamy guitars come in and take it off. I know it’s such a simple intro and it really has little to do with this track in general, but I love how it instantly transported me away from my desk and to a beautiful and sunny spring morning. As the song moves you, you get a very The Wonder Years brand of emo music but with a slightly grittier edge that makes this song feel almost post-emo (if that’s even a thing yet). There’s a Midwest sensibility to the heart-on-sleeve approach to the lyrics in this song, which absolutely sang to my heart this morning. Really, this isn’t the most exciting song you’ll hear all day and is surely not the heaviest track I’ll present to you today, but it is one that will catch your ears and heart all at the same time and make you fall head over heels in love with both Kurt Moulison and Scaredy Cat.
I’m having some issues with Spotify right now so I don’t have a cool little widjit where you can just hit play here but you can check this song out HERE!!
