“What do my ex and noodles have in common? They can both kill you.” That was the tagline that Upon Your Dead Body sent me with this new track, and yeah, it caught my attention. I’m not sure how a noodle can kill you, and I’m not sure that listening to this song is going to give me an answer to that, but I know that the creativity alone and the quirkiness of that tagline is more than enough to have me intrigued.

Although the idea of “Death By Noodle” made me smile a bit, this is a super emotional song that speaks to depression. It’s about being worn down by someone in your life and how they can leave you with nothing if you aren’t careful. Someone can drain you of your energy, your spirit, and your time without you noticing, but it doesn’t have to be that way. You can stop it by stepping away. One cup of noodles has an insane amount of sodium. One cup of noodles won’t kill you, but eating one every day could very well become damaging. When you feel drained and depressed, sometimes all you have the energy to cook is a Cup of Noodles. Hence, the connection between an ex and a Cup of Noodles. I love the cleverness of this comparison but I love the emotion in this song even more. Although I’m not feeling super emotional this morning and am just trying to stay positive in an office that feels particularly dark and gloomy, I loved this song and found myself falling deeper and deeper into Upon Your Dead Body’s world with every passing beat of this beautiful song.
