My boyfriend has a rule that he does not wear shorts when performing on stage. I think it’s a silly rule, especially that one time he played outside when it was nearly 100 degrees. He really doesn’t have a reason for this rule more that it’s just “not right” for men to wear shorts on stage. This has absolutely nothing to do with “Love In A Time Of Endings” from Boys in Shorts, but it was my first thought when this single came across my desk.

“Love In A Time Of Endings” is part of Boys in Shorts’s new album ‘Closure.’ It’s a story about rising anxiety due to a fast-approaching apocalypse. Although I don’t think we are at the end of times, I would be lying if I said I didn’t have those days when I get lost in my head about all of the insanity in the world, and I love how this song addresses that. You can feel a slight sense of panic in the high-octane presentation of this song, but you also get this feeling of not being alone throughout it. Stylistically, this is an alt-rock anthem, but it comes with just enough extra edge and grit to make it feel more extreme than your standard alt-rock song. At three minutes long, this isn’t necessarily a short song, but the energy that Boys In Shorts packs into the track makes it fly by, so feel free to listen to “Love In A Time Of Endings” a few times before moving on with your day.
