It’s been one of those mornings where I have quit my day job at least a dozen times in my mind. I won’t actually quit because, really, I have it made here, but it’s just one of those mornings when I regret coming back to this job after being self-employed for a bit. The looming vacation I’m going on this weekend isn’t helping. Long story short, my head isn’t in the game, and I’m just not in the mood, but thankfully, I have a new song from Bleeker to help keep me going and keep me positive because, really, every time I hear this band, I can’t help but smile.

It’s no surprise that I absolutely adore this band. I share out every single one they send my way not because I have an extreme bias, but because each song is so freaking perfect, with “Outside” being no exception. As the band puts it, “‘Outside’ is a bit of a metaphor song for forgiveness, connection, and just finding your way back home.” There’s beauty in that statement, much like there’s beauty in this song, but there’s also an unforgiving energy here that helps really drive the message home. “Outside” is a song for those days when you’re feeling hopeless, helpless, and just like nothing is going right. Bleeker keeps you grounded while acknowledging conflicting feelings. This reminds you that nobody is perfect, not even this band, but that lack of perfection is what makes us human, makes us, us, and that’s a beautifully powerful statement to carry with you as we shift into weekend mode.
