I do not have a green thumb. I really suck at all things involving plants and flowers. At one point, I was determined to get some greenery in my house, so I bought air plants because, well, they say they are unkillable. I killed them within just about two months. I gave up, and although I have one live succulent in the house right now, it’s barely holding on and will surely be dead and gone in no time, no matter what I do to it. Long story short, I have no clue How to Care for Flowers but I know that I absolutely love this band and their new song “To Replace a Replacement.”

Heartbreak and struggles in general are terrible and traumatic, but when you add addiction into the mix, you are left with sheer devastation. This song from How to Care for Flowers is about deciding to get sober and look back at the heartbreak and struggles of your life in a more positive way. Don’t get me wrong, some things just downright suck, but I love how this song acknowledges this fact while reminding you that those are all lessons that you can take something from. Although it’s a super positive song message-wise, it has an intensity that shows the drive and stamina it takes to get sober. I love how all of these things come together to tell a story and leave you with something to think about. I love even more the fact that How to Care for Flowers is just a one-man band. Let that sink in while you listen to this magical piece of art.
