Happy Monday! I know it’s ridiculously early but this is going to be a busy, short week for me as I leave for Riot Fest on Thursday so I need to fit in as much as I possibly can to the front end of this week from work to chores to everything else so why not kick off the new music portion of my week early as well?
“Put It on Me” is a no-frills kind of punk song, which makes it perfect for a Monday morning when you may mentally have the energy for the week but, physically, you’re still longing for the weekend to come back. It’s three minutes and twenty seconds of exactly two and a half chords, but you won’t notice because the vocals and everything else in this song seem to be constantly moving and swirling, giving it an anthemic energy that will definitely get your blood pumping. “Put It On Me” is about being the emotional scapegoat. This may be in a relationship, maybe at work, maybe just in life in general, but the shout-along chorus drives the point home: don’t be that scapegoat. Know your worth and stand up for it. You aren’t anyone’s punching bag and that’s the kind of energy I think we all need as we enter a new week.
