I’m feeling just a wee bit angsty this morning. I blame the never-ending stream of emails coming in and that familiar feeling of drowning, but I also blame the weather. It’s pretty crappy out. It’s super foggy and just gloomy, which has me feeling just a bit more full of rage than usual. Thankfully, I have some amazing music to help get me through this moment of angst like “Open Season” from State Power.
The final single from State Power’s debut album, “Open Season” is two and a half minutes of relentless energy. It’s a blistering and highly energized track full of a perfect dose of angst that matches my mood so perfectly. Overall, this song is very much set in the hardcore vein of things but you also get this thrashy energy that sets State Power apart from all of the other hardcore bands that I’ve heard recently. State Power is from The Netherlands so, truthfully, I don’t know if or when I’ll ever get a chance to see this powerful band live but I am hoping and praying to the concert Gods that I somehow get a chance because, just listening to this song, I know that this is a band that has to be seen in concert.
