You know that saying, “Don’t be so busy working to create a life that you forget to live a life” or however it goes? That’s what came to mind when this song from Follow Thru came across my desk. I’m the person that that statement was made for. Although my “work” is super fun as I get to see so many amazing bands and witness so many amazing concerts, there are times in my life where I feel like I’m so busy being Girl at the Rock Shows that I forget who I am or thatI have friends that I enjoy just as much. This subtle but constant feeling of exsistential dread isn’t quite what this song from Follow Thru is about but it’s what it made me think of. Whether or not you can relate, I think you need to spend some time with this song today.
A skate punk band based out of Rhode Island featuring members of Bears! Bears! Bears! and Short Handed Goal, Follow Thru has a bright and poppy sound that will hit you like a ton of bricks. This is definitely a skate punk kind of song but I love the way that you can hear a slight ska influence throughout this song. This isn’t a surprise if you know anything about Bears! Bears! Bears! or Short Handed Goal, but it’s also not a surprise when it comes to this track, meaning that it fits the overall vibe too well. The instrumentation feels light, while the vocals keep this song on an Earth level with their almost too-raw approach. Long story short, you can jump and dance or you can cry and dream to “I’ve Missed More Notes Than I Care to Admit” from Follow Thru. Either way, I assure you that you will love this track.
