Girl at the Rock Shows

I don’t have anything super fun or quirky for you right now. The clock is ticking, and it’s been a head-down, just-work kind of morning. That’s not a bad thing but I want to spice it up a bit in a way more than just the Hot Cheetos I am snacking on so let’s take a break and check out “Degenerate” from Pieces.

This song is pure chaos, and it’s absolutely perfect. It’s a perfect blend of nu-metal, punk, and even a little electronic kind of vibe. Although the song has a serious message behind it, as it’s about addiction and the mess that happens right before you decide to get clean and sober, I picked up on more of the party-like anthem of this song and, for a Monday morning, it’s just what I needed. I know that seems almost rude for me to pick up on a party vibe when this song is about recovering from addiction but that’s the genius of this song and Pieces in general. Huge drums, chant-along lines of words, “Degenerate” isn’t meant for a Monday morning; it’s meant for a Saturday night, but hey, why not mix it up a bit and just go with the flow? Use the energy of this song to catapult you through the rest of the week.
