Life has been insane lately and I was supposed to push this interview (and subsequent single) from Palamino out a couple of weeks ago but here we are, typical Girl at the Rock Shows lack-of-timeline style. Regardless of this being late or not, the second I heard “I Really Want To Leave” from Palamino, I fell in love and I was lucky enough to ask this amazing band some questions so check out the review and make sure to show this amazing band some love!
What’s your go-to purchase at a gas station (outside of gas) when on a road trip?
RedBull and cigarettes! I’m in the process of quitting actually since the last time I was on the road, so maybe just the red bull for now.

I’d have to pick Always Sunny. We had a huge debate about this! Max is definitely Charlie because he’s our wildcard. Becca would probably be Dee? She doesn’t want to be compared to an annoying bird but I’d say she has the most sense out of all of us lol. Michelle would have to be Mac because she’s the brawn! and I’d, unfortunately, have to be Dennis. Just maybe a little less narcissistic and literally insane.
Everyone says that every crowd is their favorite but, what city has the best audience and why is it Minneapolis?
Haha we haven’t made it all the way to Minneapolis yet but I hear the environment is beautiful and the history is rich! Which will probably mean the people are chill as hell

Did Matt Skiba help or hurt Blink 182? Or, if you have no opinion, that’s fine too (although I’ll absolutely be judging you)!
I don’t have a strong opinion on this. ‘Take off your pants and jacket’ was probably my favorite record when I was like, 10? But I think it was kind of cool to see. Blink is one of the biggest bands in their genre, so I feel like they can do anything and not get hurt.
How would you describe your music to your grandma?
I’d probably say something like, ‘Yaya, my band is kind of like The Beatles, but louder. It might sound like I’m yelling a lot, but I’m okay, I promise’

If you were to rob a bank, what would be the song playing in the getaway car as you escape?
Tbh I’d probably need pure silence. I’d be too anxious to listen to anything at that point. Sometimes, I think silence is underrated.
What’s the worst concert you’ve ever been to and why?
I went to an Animal Collective show once. Maybe I wasn’t in the right head space for it but it just wasn’t my vibe. I got a real big frog rock vibe or something. You know what I mean? Because I don’t.
What’s your most regrettable tattoo? Or, if you don’t have any- what’s a tattoo you would want if you were to get one?
I only have 2 stick and pokes which I do not regret. However, Michelle told me a story once about how she went to a warehouse in Newark to get her first tatt. Real sketchy situation. The artist told her what she wanted was ‘choppy’. Now she’s left with a Tattoo of a heart and a keyhole that she doesn’t even want. lol talk about a nightmare
Favorite method of listening to music (i.e. vinyl, cassette, 8-track, etc.)
Vinyl for sure. I have these old Greek records from the 50s that used to be my Grandma’s. Can’t find this stuff anywhere! Crate digging is super fun too. But also, keeping random CDs in my car has been an ultimate pastime.
What’s one thing I should know before listening to “I Really Want To Leave”
We definitely don’t take ourselves too seriously, and we hope that comes through the single. If we’re not having fun then what the hell are we doing this for?
What is the best example of a time when you really “wanted to leave”?
There was this one time, fairly recently, I walked into this bar. Everyone was staring at me because I was the only one wearing a mask. I walked right out and got high in my bed. I’m too old for that shit haha !
I dream of the day I can lay around listening to vinyl, share a Red Bull, and complain about Animal Collective with Ryan but, until then, I will just listen to their music on repeat. Join me?
