Weston & The Evergreen have been busy lately. From releasing their new song “Great American Epic” on August 26th to their upcoming performance opening for The Band CAMINO on September 3rd, these guys are grinding and absolutely turning heads as they do so. I was honestly shocked when they took me up on an offer to ask them some questions about them as people and as a band but was honored that I had the chance to do so with this up-and-coming band!

Did Matt Skiba help or hurt Blink 182? Or, if you have no opinion, that’s fine too (although I’ll absolutely be judging you)!

You are free to judge us, we don’t listen to Blink 182!

What’s your go-to coffee order?

Weston has never been a coffee drinker, but enjoys an iced salted caramel!

Hold on to your butts– here’s a two-parter!
Pick between It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Office, or Parks & Rec

The Office

Now that you’ve picked, please assign each band member as a character from said show

Weston is Gabe, Ryker is Jim, Duncan is Stanley, Mace is Ryan, Josh is Andy.

Everyone says that every crowd is their favorite but, what city has the best audience and why is it Minneapolis?

Surprisingly it’s Abilene, TX! The shows we have there are crazy enthusiastic! Maybe because there’s nothing else to do out there in West Texas…

How would you describe your music to your parents?

It’s Coldplay but more rock! (We don’t sound like Coldplay don’t tell them)

If you could have dinner with any musician, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Ryker says Trevor Mcnevan and Steve Augustine from Thousand Foot Krutch. Huge influence on his life and favorite artists of all time.

What’s the worst concert you’ve ever been to and why?

One of our first multi-act shows we performed at was terribly organized based on time that we gave up our spot on stage for the headliner to only perform 15 minutes… plus the lineup was all over the place.

What’s an old-school fad that you wish would come back (i.e. jnco jeans; butterfly clips; etc.)

Weston says early 00’s infomercials for children’s products such as ZooPals or Moon Sand!

What’s your favorite method of listening to music (i.e. vinyl, cassette, 8-track, etc.)

Car Speakers are the modern classic!

Favorite lyrics of all time? (it can be a full song, a phrase, etc. just please let me know who it is and what song!)

Weston’s choice is, “I speak to God in public, I speak to God in public, He keep my rhymes in couplets, He think the new sh*t jam, I think we mutual fans,” – ‘Blessings’ by Chance the Rapper. Ryker’s is, “If Grace is an Ocean we’re all sinking” – ‘How He Loves’ by David Crowder.

What’s your favorite menu item at Taco Bell?

Weston refuses to eat at Taco Bell…

What was the first concert you ever went to?

This question took us a long time to remember, but Weston thinks it was TobyMac with Skillet and Lecrae at the OKC Zoo Amphitheater. Such a bizarre Christian lineup!

If you were to rob a bank, what would be the song playing in the getaway car as you escape?

Weston’s choice is ‘Come Down’ by Anderson .Paak. Song beat would be BLASTING!

What’s one thing I should know before listening to “Great American Epic”?

This song is not to be taken seriously. American politics continue to brew tension and ruin relationships, so to create a pop/rock banger that pokes fun at this theme was super challenging! The first time we’ll perform this song live is while opening for The Band CAMINO on September 3rd!

Can’t make it to their show on September 3rd with The Band CAMINO? Neither can I but I will be jamming this new track all night long in support of them. What a fun group of people with a true passion for what they are doing. I truly applaud them for the grind and can not thank them enough for taking some time to hang out with me! Make sure to show these guys some love and check out their new song “Great American Epic”! (Don’t worry, all of the links your heart desires are below!)
