It’s not “One O’clock” yet but I’m counting down the minutes. It’s the day before a holiday weekend which means the day job has been (and will continue to be) super slow. Because of that, my motivation to do anything else is pretty lacking. I’m counting down the minutes, hell, the seconds and blaring “One O’clock” from Shawn Mocey like it will help make time faster.
Honestly, it kind of did only because it sent me down the rabbithole that is Shawn Mocey. This song in particular hits hard. It’s punky and aggressive with an undeniable sense of energy and a little pop-punk flare that instantly had me falling in love. With a keyboard sound worthy of a Motion City Soundtrack of Hellogoodbye song and then vocals that lean a bit more into the New Found Glory vein of things, this was the perfect mix of all things nostalgic with a little modern twist that oddly reminded me of Kennyhoopla. Although the composition of this song is fairly predictable, I feel like there are epic swings in mood and tempo that keep the song exciting and keep you guessing in a way. Long story short, this is a great song to keep you energy high and a smile on your face so check it out!
