Sometimes I turn on top-40 radio and just start to feel super pessimistic about the future of music. Don’t get me wrong, I can jam out to a pop hit every once in awhile but, as the years pass on, I feel like current hit music makes less and less sense to me. It has me, at times, thinking that the future of music is in jeopardy and then I hear a song like “Never Let You Down” from Trueblood. With members of this band being between the ages of 10 and 15, Trueblood is the future of music and this single from this brother-band gives me so much hope.
A little pop, a little rock, a little punk, and a whole lot of heart, I was in love with this song before I knew just how young the members are. Although there is definitely something wide-eyed and youthful about the track, there’s an old-soul vibe to it. These kids are clearly wiser than their years when it comes to showing restraint in a song. “Never Let You Down” is full of life and energy but there is no point in this three and a half minute song where I felt like something felt rushed or a bit too busy. With the members being so young, I truly think there is a very bright future for Trueblood and I can’t wait for them to really get their footing in the scene sooner rather than later.
