I have whatever is the opposite of a green thumb so when “The Screening Room Incident” from a band called How To Care For Flowers came across my desk, I couldn’t help but chuckle. Was checking this song out from a band with such a fun name going to help my green thumb. I honestly don’t think that after checking this track out that I will become a mother to all of the plants and flowers like most of my friends but it did give me a new favorite band!

This song is not a pop-punk-perfect jam like some of the other tracks I’ve been sharing out so far today but this song hits just as hard. The amount of emotion that comes with every moment throughout this three minute song is heavy. Honestly, the raw approach to the all-too-real lyrics about How To Care For Flowers’ struggle with OCD and major depressive disorder creates a sound and mood that is so easy to get lost in and just really start to get deep with your own feelings. Personally, I found the diary-like lines of words to be super relatable but, even if you don’t deal with the same struggles explained in the song, I feel like just the pure power that this song comes with will have you sold.

“The Screening Room Incident” is not for the faint of heart. I am telling you, this song will make you feel things. Think lyrics like Hotel Books with an energy like Being As An Ocean. It’s a lot but, if you’re ready for it, it’s more than worth your time and, if you stick around for the ending of the track, you will get a huge (and amazing) treat in the form of epicness.
