I used to stay up until 6 AM on the regular. I had no reason for doing it other than I honestly liked the challenge and truly just don’t sleep as much as I probably should. Now that I’m older, with a day job, and responsibilities, those nights spent staying up until the sun comes up are long behind me. “Losing Daylight” from Kansas City, Missouri based Honey Spider was written after one of those nights staying up until 6 AM but I honestly don’t think you would know that with your first listen of this song.
At only one minute long, this song is fast and dirty. It comes with an undeniable sense of ferocity and slight panic. Chaos reigns supreme throughout the instrumentation and vocals even when the tempo slows down ever so slightly towards the end of the track. Even with this chaos and intensity, “Losing Daylight” has a true flow to it making it feel like a completely cohesive, albeit short, song. Being that it’s literally a minute long, I don’t have much more to say here other than check out this song and show Honey Spider some love!
