I’ve been hearing a lot about Too Close For Comfort but honestly haven’t taken the time to dig into their music… until now. I’ve always wondered what the hype is about when it comes to this band and, after hearing their single “Smother”, I get it.
“Smother” doesn’t waste any time hitting you right in the gut with a blast of power before the band settles into their new-school vibe of pop-punk. With a sound that relates a bit to bands like State Champs and Neck Deep but has a signature vibe to it that can only be called Too Close For Comfort, it’s no wonder why they have been buzzing lately. There’s something absolutely flawless about this song and I know that some of that comes from the mixing and mastering that is done so well but that’s not all. The overall composition and the way the vocals and instrumentation go separate ways at times while staying glued together is absolutely genius. Sure, this is just another pop-punk-perfect track but Too Close For Comfort has something that sets them apart from the rest and, after inadvertently avoiding them for some time, it’s time for me to jump on this train and see where it goes.
