Although I love perfectly polished tracks, I love tracks that share their DIY roots with you in more ways than one. That’s what you get with “All The Money In The World” from FRIEND.
Don’t get me wrong, this song is polished and has a great overall tone and recording quality to it but there’s still this glimmer of DIY attitude and punk spirit that comes shining through and truly makes this a stand-out song for me. All of that being said, it wouldn’t be a big surprise for me to compare this song and FRIEND’s style in general to FIDLAR and, although it seems obvious, that is the comparison I’m going to stick with. Although FRIEND is from Philadelphia, “All The Money In The World” has an almost surf punk influence that takes it back to a FIDLAR vibe while still having that distinct skater-punk sound. FRIEND claims to be a “goblin punk” three-piece. I honestly don’t know what “goblin punk” is or how this would be considered “goblin punk” but, if that’s truly a thing, I’m here for it and can’t wait to hear more!
