I can’t focus on work right now. I’m not sure what it is but I may as well take advantage of it and spend my time digging into some new music. It’s more fun to do that anyway so let’s take a listen to “Splinter of Alone” from Tornādo Tornädo.

The first comparison I want to make when it comes to this song is The Aquabats. “Splinter of Alone” starts off with a super fun “nah-nah-nah-nah” vocal part before settling into Tornādo Tornädo’s signature sound. This track is a super fast and fun punk song that is full of both anthemic parts and catchy lines of words. Unfortunately, the subject of this song is a bit darker than the song would actual lead you to believe. It’s about the loss of a friend to suicide which is super super dark and twisty but I love the positive and upbeat spin that Tornādo Tornädo puts on the message. It’s a great example of how music can help you heal and cope in crazy ways. “Splinter of Alone” is Tornādo Tornädo’s debut single but, if this is any indication of what’s to come to the band, I know that it will not be the last song from this Pennsylvania based act that I share with you.
