I’m not sure what they’ve been putting in the water up in Canada lately but I feel like I am seeing more and more acts from our northern neighbors lately and each one seems to catch my attention a little bit more. “Stay 4 The Night” from Ontario-based Sun Junkies (not “The” Sun Junkies) is no exception to this.
This song instantly grabs you. I won’t spoil how but, as soon as you press play on this three and a half minute long track. Throughout the length of this song, there’s such a sense of insane energy yet the band never lets the beat or the music get away from them. Although frantic and a bit crazy, I love the fact that Sun Junkies stay in control and even spend some time in this song to slow things down and show a more somber side of the band. Stylistically, “Stay 4 The Night” blurs the line between punk and indie-rock. There are elements that fit perfectly into both worlds which will leave you just as confused (in a good way) as hooked to this song and this band in general.
