I have nothing witty for you right now. The truth is, I started off this day so motivated and ready to take it on but now I’m drooping and trying to plan an early escape from the day job so I can get a quick nap in before my all-too-early show tonight. I’m not sure if it will happen so I suppose I will use some new music to see if I can snap out of it and get back into work mode.

The way The Kindest People just jump into “I’ll Be Your Rival” gave me that instantly burst of energy that I was so desperate for. At first, I thought this would be a bit of a surf rock song just due to the tone of the guitars that get this song started but the band quickly settles into a sound that is a bit more just standard indie rock. Don’t get me wrong, you get glimpses of that slight California sun and surf feeling throughout the track but you also get emo tendencies that lean into a bit of a PUP or Joyce Manor sound while also getting something a bit more commercial and radio friendly. I loved how The Kindest People could fit so much moods and vibes into this quick three minute song while still making sure it felt like a cohesive song. If listening to “I’ll Be Your Rival” doesn’t get you intrigued about this band and give you a burst of energy then I don’t think there’s anything that can help you get through your Monday.
